چکیده

The handling of Interoperable Object Group References (IOGRs) is one of the basic building block of any FTCORBA compliant platform. In this paper we introduce two basic components: IOGRManager, a tool to create, update, browse IOGRs, and an Object-Request-GateWay (ORGW), a CORBA compliant client request interceptor, which allows clients running on non-FT-Corba compliant ORBs to transparently interact with replicated objects residing on FT-CORBA-compliant platforms. Both components have been developed in the context of Interoperable Replication Logic (IRL) project which investigates the impact of three tiers architectures on software replication.

FTS: A High-Performance CORBA Fault-Tolerance Service

This paper presents a lightweight CORBA fault-tolerance service called FTS. The service is based on standard portable features of CORBA, and in that respect is fully CORBA compliant, but does not follow the FT-CORBA speciications in areas where the authors felt the latter interfered with their other design goals. The service features a unique architecture, based on a new type of an object adapt...

Handling Replication mechanisms with CORBA Standard Portable Interceptors

The Object Management Group (OMG) extends standard CORBA specification to handle fault tolerance mechanisms. This extension led to the definition of a new standard: FT-CORBA, which introduces new concepts like IOGR (Interoperable Object Group Reference), and offers new programmable interfaces. The introduction of the IOGR limits the interactions with the legacy applications. Moreover, the defin...

Wireless Access and Terminal Mobility in CORBA

The Object Management Group has recently published the Wireless Access and Terminal Mobility in CORBA standard—Wireless CORBA, for short. The specification enables mobility transparency of objects on a mobile terminal through a mobile Interoperable Object Reference (‘mobile IOR’). A GIOP tunneling protocol is used to handle handoffs between access bridges even when the access technology changes...

IRL: A Three-Tier Approach to FT-CORBA Infrastructures

A replication logic is the set of protocols and mechanisms implementing a software replication technique. A three-tier approach to replication consists in separating the replication logic from both clients and servers by embedding such logic in a mid-tier. This novel approach allows (i) to design thin client (embedding the presentation code and some redirection/retransmission mechanism), (ii) t...
